2005 State of the City Address
Mayor James Brainard
Mayor Jim Brainard delivered his annual State of the City speech at the Carmel Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Wednesday, November 9th. He reviewed major accomplishments including redevelopment initiatives, road construction, the Performing Arts Center, the Arts & Design District, and progress in City Center. He also described his appreciation to City staff for their professionalism and dedication to the day-to-day business of the City. He reminded the audience that the City works hard everyday to make residents proud to live here. The goal is to make Carmel the best place to live, work and raise a family.

Trail Etiquette

With more than 42 miles of trails and bike paths in Carmel and Clay Township, it is important users to understand that there are specific rules for trail use in our area that may differ from other trails. In this video avid bikers Ron Carter, City Councilman at large and Judy Hagan, Clay Township Trustee, outline the rules and common courtesies expected from trail users in Carmel and Clay Township.

The February show was filmed at The Mystery Company, a local bookstore specializing in mystery novels.  Featuring interviews with the Mayor, Rick Sharp, Councilor of District #1, Mike McBride, City Engineer, Scott Brewer, City Forester and Lauren Walters, Parks Department Volunteer Coordinator, this show had many interesting topics.  As always, Jeff Worrell and Stephanie Lewis presented Carmel’s latest news and upcoming events and Nancy Heck showed us another great feature on the city’s website.  Suzann DeLay and Kathy Christie stopped by from the Central Indiana Dance Ensemble to tell us about their upcoming performances and Beth Smietana, Communications Director for the library gave us the scoop on Carmel Clay Reads, the community-wide reading program.  This show had a lot of useful information.  Tune in and check it out!

 


     
Connecting with Carmel - January 2006

Hosts, Jeff Worrell and Stephanie Lewis kicked off the New Year at Artisan Masterpiece in Merchant’s Square.  While presenting Carmel’s latest news and upcoming events, they even found time to create some artwork.  The January show featured interviews with the Mayor, Joe Griffiths, Councilor of District #4, Marvin Stewart, Director of Communications and Lauren Walters, Parks Department Volunteer Coordinator.  Nancy Heck, Director of Community Relations, showed us another feature on the website and Brad Little stopped by from the Carmel Dad’s Club to discuss their upcoming programs.  Tune in and check out this video masterpiece!
